You can return your checked out items to any library that is part of the Library System of Lancaster County.

With the exception of the following items:

  • Launch Pads
  • Play Away Views
  • American Girl Dolls

Yes, library cards do expire – This is so the libraries can ensure that the information is up to date. In order to renew your library card you must go to a library with your card and some identification/proof of address (this can be your license).

The countywide Public Library Summer Reading Program is open to children and teens of all ages. Program components include 4 reading levels: Read Aloud (birth-4 years), Elementary (ages 5-9), Tween (ages 10-12) and the Teen level (ages 13-19).

The Public Library Summer Reading Program begins during the first week of June and runs until mid-August.  Please check with your local public library to find out the exact dates for this year.

Many of the public libraries in Lancaster County offer classes in a wide array of subjects — computer skills, email basics, creative writing, health education, financial literacy, cooking photography and more!  Contact your local library to find out more.

The public libraries in Lancaster County hold book sales throughout the year, so your donations help to increase their sale inventory.
Please be sure to donate items that are in good condition that is a condition that you would consider buying.
Please check with your local library to find out their procedures for collecting these donations.

Contact your local library to notify them of the loss.  Lost or stolen library cards can be replaced for $1.00.

An institutional library card is issued to a Lancaster County organization that assumes responsibility for all borrowed materials. The application must be accompanied by a letter on the letterhead of the organization applying for the card, accepting responsibility for all borrowed materials and signed by the director of the organization. Overdue fines will be incurred for any materials not returned by the due date. Special loan periods can be arranged upon request.
