Teen SummerZine 2021

Attention writers ages 12-19! Are you ready to take your writing to the next level? Would you like to see your work published alongside award-winning authors? This summer, you’ll get to know Abbey Nash, Jenni L. Walsh, and Eric Bell, three Pennsylvania authors who will offer creative prompts and a real-time look at their writing process via Zoom. There will be monthly opportunities to give and receive feedback from other teens and the guest authors, as well as time to polish your work for publication. Our finished SummerZine will include poetry, short stories, and essays by Lancaster County teens and our guest authors, and it will be catalogued at all libraries in the county. If conditions allow, we’ll cap off the summer with an in-person Publication Gala and a copy of the magazine for each participant!

Presenter Bios:

Abbey Nash: Born to parents with a serious case of “wanderlust,” Abbey Lee Nash has lived in some pretty interesting places, including on a Christian farming commune in rural Georgia, above a third-world craft store in Kentucky, and on a Salvation Army retreat center in the Pennsylvania mountains. She currently lives outside of Philadelphia with her husband, two daughters, and one very rambunctious Australian Shepherd. When she’s not writing, she loves talking about writing and reading other people’s writing—especially contemporary YA. Abbey is an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. LIFELINE is her first novel. For more information, visit abbeynash.com .

Jenni L. Walsh is an award-winning author of books for both children and adults. She is a proud graduate of Villanova University, and lives in the Philadelphia suburbs with her husband, daughter, son, and various pets. Jenni is the author of the nonfiction She Dared series, along with middle grade historical novels Hettie and the London Blitz, I Am Defiance, By the Light of Fireflies, and Over and Out. To learn more about Jenni and her books, please visit jennilwalsh.com or @jennilwalsh on social media.

Eric Bell: Eric Bell lives and writes in Pennsylvania. He was once in middle school. He survived. You will too. Alan Cole Is Not a Coward is his debut novel, followed by Alan Cole Doesn’t Dance. You can find him online at www.iamericbell.com.
