Description:Friends! Want to travel? Imagine a fun-filled short trip to West Africa to play drums, dance, sing, learn, and SMILE, all at your favorite library! This program with Tammi will have you dancin’ on your feet and movin’ in your seat. Let’s go back in time and learn about the original story of the Lion King…but this time, you are in it, playing rhythms with your hands and stomping with your feet. Drums are provided, but bring your favorite percussion instrument if you have one!

Presenter Bio: Tammi Hessen is a Lancaster, PA-based drummer and percussionist who has been studying in the West African hand drum tradition of djembe/dununs and continues to discover and celebrate the nature and power of the drum as a musical instrument and tool for joy, transformation, and personal and community healing. Tammi believes that drumming can unite people from the inside –out. She teaches and performs in the local area, including as a Professor at Franklin & Marshall College.
