Mischievous storybook character, Curious George to visit public libraries this summer!

Lancaster County public libraries will welcome that loveable monkey, Curious George for special storytimes this summer as part of the Summer Reading Program.  This year’s Summer Reading Program theme for children (birth – 12 years) is Every Hero Has a Story!.  The first of Curious George’s appearances will run from May 30th until June 10.  (Please check the scheduled listings below.)

Curious George is the main character in a series of books by author H.A. Rey and his wife, Margaret Rey, that center around the adventures of a curious monkey who is brought from his home in Africa by “The Man with The Yellow Hat” to live with him in a big city. You know that the second the man with the yellow hat leaves the house, warning George to be careful, George is going to get into trouble. According to co-author, Margaret Rey, “George can do what kids can’t do. He can paint a room from the inside. He can hang from a kite in the sky. He can let the animals out of their pens on the farm. He can do all these naughty things that kids would like to do.”  Titles in the series include Curious George; Curious George Takes a Job; Curious George Rides a Bike; Curious George Gets a Medal; Curious George Flies a Kite; Curious George Learns the Alphabet; and Curious George Goes to the Hospital.
