Science Explorers “Science Matters” – After talking about the world around us and how scientists can study anything, learn about the three states of matter! Using solid, liquid and gas we create what we call bouncing bubbles. Use a spud launcher to prove that air has weight and discuss what defines matter. Be introduced to Daniel Bernoulli and Bernoulli’s Principal, and how he was really a mathematician and later a physicist; discover how the importance of math and science go hand in hand; use an atomizer to introduce Bernoulli’s Principal and discuss high and low pressure systems. “Play some Bernoulli basketball!” with a leaf blower; and use wind bags to explore Bernoulli’s principal. Assembly ends with a lot of low pressure air and some toilet paper. You be the hypothesizer!
The presenter Erin Corvaia has been with Science Explorers for 2 ½ years. She was formally an Elementary teacher in Park City, UT before moving ‘home’ again to Berks County. Erin loves all the science but even more so loves teaching children and instilling the love of learning in them.
