The Public Libraries in Lancaster County join libraries nationwide in celebrating September as National Library Card Sign-up Month. It is a time when parents are reminded that a library card is one of the most important tools in your child’s learning.
Libraries play an important role in the education and development of children. Studies show that children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better academically and are more likely to continue to use the library as a source of lifetime learning.
Lancaster County’s Public Libraries offer books, magazines, audio and DVDs, computers and fantastic programs!
Remember…anyone five years of age or older can sign up for a free library card! Children ages 14 and under must have a parent or legal guardian sign for the card to be issued in the child’s name. Another added benefit is that your library card may be used at any public library and the bookmobile.
