Library Service Award Winner of the Week ~ Jim Martin

Manheim Township Public Library

Jim Martin has held four influential positions in the life of the Manheim Township Public Library. He was the Manheim Township Manager and later Manheim Township Commissioner during the pivotal time when our branch status ended and the community’s dreams progressed to real plans and building. Jim’s “retirement” has been spent with us, too. Serving on our Library Board in our early growth years, Jim is now a devoted library volunteer. Jim helped us fit into a temporary rental space in 2007 and later move to our permanent Granite Run address in 2010. Today he is ever willing to shelve books, haul boxes at our Book Sale, or make a quick repair to an ailing book cart. He has even made specialty wood stands for a puppet collection. In each of these roles, Jim has shown leadership and community commitment all with personal warmth, humor, and charm. He is so generous with his time. The Library Board and staff cannot think of an individual more deserving of this honor.
