The Milanof-Schock Library in Mount Joy is pleased to welcome Barbara Basile as its new Executive Director. Basile was the Director of the Manheim Community Library for the last 10 years, and prior to her time there, she held positions at several nonprofits, two of which were libraries – Carthage Free Library in New York and the Hummelstown Branch in Dauphin County. Coming to us with a wide range of leadership skills, Barbara will be a benefit to the Milanof-Schock Library as it moves forward under new leadership.
The Library also hired Melody Nissley as their new Youth Librarian. Several years ago, she started her public service career as a Youth Librarian at the Lancaster Public Library. She has a teaching degree and certification in elementary education and a master’s degree in Library Science and certification as a Library Media Specialist working in urban school districts. Nissley’s hope is to bring a variety of innovative programming that encompasses all members of the family, with a focus on preschoolers and their kindergarten readiness, as well as expanding programming for teens. “Equally important to this position,” she says, “is to embrace our increasingly diverse community with thoughtful, intentional programming that meets the needs of the larger community.”
