The Public Libraries in Lancaster County are pleased to announce that they will be hosting special puppet shows entitled, “Heroes on Hand” by Adam Swartz Puppets as part of this year’s Summer Reading celebration! By attending the program, youth and their families will learn what it takes to be a hero (or villain!) since the program emphasizes decision-making and the power of teamwork in a show that’s educational and entertaining for audiences of all ages and sizes.
The “Heroes on Hand” show presented by Adam Swartz and Kathy Morrow, was created especially for this year’s Summer Reading Program theme: “Every Hero Has a Story!” These special appearances will start on June 16 and run until July 14. (See schedule below.)
The program will also feature Comic book-style artwork, original music including a rap battle, and a chance to pledge an oath of professional heroism make for an epic adventure! This program supports the following PA Core Standards: Speaking and Listening Standards K-5 & 6-12 and also satisfies the PA Forward Basic Literacy component.
About the Performers
Adam Swartz has been traveling the United States since 1999, using his powers of storytelling and puppetry for good. He has a background in performance, multi-media visual art, technical theater, and education. Adam gained much insight and experience training with puppeteers of the Sesame Workshop, the non-profit organization behind Sesame Street. Adam Swartz Puppets creates and performs original, interactive puppet shows to entertain and educate crowds of all ages. The company travels to schools, libraries, camps, art festivals, theaters, and streets to perform puppet shows and present hands-on workshops.
