Library System to Hold Annual Meeting

Leadership for Economic and Community Development will be the topic for the Library System’s Annual Meeting!

The Library System of Lancaster County is pleased to announce that they will hold their Annual Meeting at the Manheim Township Public Library, 595 Granite Run Road, Lancaster on Wednesday, April 20 at 6:00 pm, while the program will begin at 7:00 pm.  The program topic will be “Leadership for Economic & Community Development” that will be presented by Douglas Knight. The event is free and open to the public.

About the Program

Our communities must adapt to a new economy. With current economic challenges the role of the nonprofit sector is amplified to a greater level.  For success to grow, leaders must as well.  This presentation will address the role of leaders in this environment and how finding your WHY as an organization is now more important than ever before. ‎ This requires innovative leadership and is essential to the viability of today’s non-profit organizations.

About the Program Presenter…

Upon Anne Gingrich’s (Executive Director of PANO) recommendation we were able to procure Douglas Knight as our program speaker.  He is a coach and consultant who works with non-profits, government leaders, and education institutions who are seeking a better way to connect to their communities’ assets and resources.  He has presented at conferences, seminars and workshops all across the country.

  • 7:00 pm – Award Presentations & Program

The Annual Business meeting starts at 6:30 pm and the Special Program & Awards Presentation begins at 7:00 pm. The event is open to the public, so anyone interested in the future of Lancaster County’s public libraries is invited to attend.

The Annual Meeting is also the occasion when Library Staff, Trustees and Volunteers are recognized. This year individual public libraries will present Service Awards to honor those who have provided outstanding library services in their communities.

Election and Installation of Board Members

The Library System Board slate of officers for 2016 will also be voted upon at the business meeting portion of the event. 2016 board members include Diane Tannehill, Brandon Danz, Andre Fouchet, Christina Diehl, Russell H. Miller, and two new board members, Rich Frerichs and G. Kenneth Kohlmaier.

New Board Members

Rich Frerichs – Dr. Richard Frerichs is a Millersville University professor emeritus, the 2014 President of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, and a past-president of the Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit board. In addition to his seat on the Library System of Lancaster County board, he is a member of the Penn Manor School District Board of Directors, the Council of Trustees of Millersville University, the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association board, the Lancaster-Lebanon Literacy Council board, and is chair of the Pennsylvania Public Education Foundation.   He is the recipient of numerous awards recognizing his achievements in the areas of education, board service, fundraising, and volunteerism.

Kenneth Kohlmaier is a private wealth advisor and franchise owner of The Kohlmaier Muscalus Group. He has worked as a Certified Financial Planner for over 33 years with a specialty focus on retirement planning, estate planning, investment planning and tax planning strategies. He is a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College where he earned dual degrees in Government and Psychology and also has a Juris Doctorate from George Mason University in Washington, D.C.   He is also a member of the Washington D.C. Bar.   He has served his clients and community by providing wealth management services to help people achieve their goals and aspirations in a thoughtful and prudent manner.  His professional affiliations are with Financial Planning Association and The Million Dollar Round Table. He received the Ameriprise Diamond Ring Club Award in 1993 and was inducted in the Ameriprise Hall of Fame in 2008.

Special recognition will also be given to the 10-year support of the following Summer Reading Sponsors: The Strasburg Railroad; Rita’s Italian Ice; and Isaac’s Famous Grilled Sandwiches. The North Museum of Nature and Science and 1719 Hans Herr House Museum will be recognized for their participation in the Family Museum Pass program.   The North Museum of Nature and Science has been participating for the past 10 years; while the 1719 Hans Herr House Museum will mark their 5-year partnership.

Joe Miller, owner of The Comic Store in Lancaster will also be recognized for raising funds to support Local Libraries and the Bookmobile Graphic Novel Collections during his annual Free Comic Book Day that takes place on the first Saturday in May.
